What technology do I need to be aware of?

Technology affects the energy consumption of TV sets in a big way. We never get to see the inside workings of our TV’s, but there’s quite a lot to it and as we’ve said before ‘NOT ALL TVs ARE CREATED EQUAL’ !!! There are 4 main things that influence the energy efficiency of an LCD screen:

Lamps There is a huge variety in lamps available that differ in energy consumption.Lamps vary in their power and energy consumption
Electronics TVs are created with different internal electronics resulting in varying energy efficiencies.Electronics affect energy efficiency
Optics Some TVs use their light more efficiently with less lamps needed.Optics can mean fewer lamps are required
Autobrightness Auto-brightness features can also help increase energy efficiency.Electronics affect energy efficiency
